Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • Looking to go visit wdw fall 2014. Trying to decide from on an 11 day trip late sept to first week in December. Wanted to know which would be the best times as far as crowds, temperatures, events go. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you

  • Hi, Kristin!

Hmm...this is a very good question. Both time periods you've mentioned feature some very special events, so you'll have to choose which are more important to you.

Late September kicks off the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival which is a feast for all senses. The parks will be sporting their fall finery and you may want to check out Magic Kingdom's Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (requires an additional ticket). Weather will be warm most days, getting cooler at night, with average temps ranging from a low of 72 to a high of 90.

Early December brings a different set of sights and sounds, Kristin, with Disney's Hollywood Studios boasting The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, Epcot hosting Candlelight Processional and Magic Kingdom featuring Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (also requiring an additional ticket). Take a look at Cinderella Castle all dressed up in her wintry best and you might decide that this is a must-do for your upcoming trip. She is simply breathtaking. Average highs at this time are 72, with lows averaging 51, so temps will likely be milder, but swimming may be something you decide to skip this trip.

Crowd levels will likely be similar, with the exception of the opening weekend of Food & Wine and if there are any school holidays which fall within your dates of stay.

Send more questions as you think of them, too. We love to help!
