Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • My 15 year old son is wondering if the cast members with green lanyards will trade pins with him or if he would be considered too old?

  • Hi Michael,

My daughter loves pin trading and it has been a fun experience we have both shared for a few years now.  This is something that she looks forward to during each one of our Disney trips!  If you ask her, she can tell you all about every single one she has, where she received it, is it a limited edition pin and which ones would be good to keep for trading next time.  This is such a fun hobby for her and I admit to being "bit by the pin bug" myself lately.  To answer your question, unfortunately the cast members who are wearing the green lanyards are only allowed to trade with younger guests up to the age of twelve.  I know that these green lanyards many times sport some very attractive pins for trading, which is why Disney must have a cut off point for age, so even the younger children can feel "special" and is something only for their age group specific.  I tell my daughter that the whole point of trading is to get something that she will like and not what is most popular, which is what I believe the point of Pin Trading should be for the younger ones. If your son is looking for one specific pin for his collection, tell him to keep looking and he will probably find it.  There are many lanyards out there with many pins....Good Luck!!!!

    Best wishes,
