Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • my 6 year old has Juv Rheumotoid arthritis and her pain is unbearable if standing for long periods of time, how will the new guest assistance program accomodate my daughter?

  • Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel George!

Bless her little heart! If your daughter is unable to wait in a regular queue due to not being able to stand for long periods of time, you should go to Guest Relations to obtain a Disability Access Service (DAS) Card. She will need to be present with you to obtain the DAS to have her photo taken for the card so be prepared for it to take a few minutes.

Once you obtain a DAS, you can go to an attraction and see a CM at the entrance to get a return time to enter the FASTPASS (FP) or other alternate entrance if necessary. Your daughter will not need to be present to get a return time for attractions but will need to be the first person of your party in line when returning to enter. The DAS differs from a FP in that there is no window return time so there is no pressure to make it back to that attraction within a certain time frame.

You can only obtain a return time for one attraction at a time but you can go and get another DAS return time for a different attraction as soon as you've finished. FP and FastPass+ can be used in addition to the DAS. Please keep in mind that there may be some changes along the way for the new DAS system.

Here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions about the DAS that you may find helpful.

If you think that it will make your daughter's day easier, you can rent a wheelchair for her so that she is more comfortable. My son uses a special needs stroller and there are local companies in Orlando that rent strollers, including larger ones that can accommodate some special needs children.

Please feel free to visit us with all of your questions.  We're hEAR to help!
Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
