Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- We are planning our first trip to Disney in May with our 7 and 4 year old. We are planning to stay at the Polynesian and will get the dining plan. How do I plan all meals around our day? I understand reservations are mostly required.

- Hi Erin!
A good place to start when making plans for your upcoming vacation is to decide which park to visit for each day of vacation. In fact this is one of the first things I do when planning a vacation, just after deciding when and where to stay. This will be essential especially if you will not have the Park Hopper option added to your tickets.
Disney's Dining Plan actually has three different variations, depending upon which one you will choose will dictate on the number of reservations you will need. The standard dining plan (which is the most popular) will include 1 quick-service credit,1 table-service credit and 1 snack credit per a person for every night of your stay.Keep in mind that your credits can be used anyway you wish and the credits are good until midnight of your check-out day.
Once I have decided on a schedule,I then start making my dining reservation plans which looks like a major military operation until I have finished planning.Luckily my husband doesn't mind too much! ;-) Make a list of dining locations that your family would like to try, then see what works with your schedule and amount of dining credits.I usually save table-service credits for dinner time, but they can be used at anytime of the day.Quick-service locations are much easier to plan for because they do not require reservations.
Keep in mind that there are several very popular and hard to get reservations, so be ready to make your reservations at exactly 180 days from your check-in date. You can begin making reservations online at 6:00 am and by phone at 7:00 am est.Reservations such as Be Our Guest and Cinderella's Royal Table can literally book with in minutes so it's best to have a plan in place in order to snag one of these reservations.
I hope this helps,Erin and please let me know if I can help with any of your Disney vacation planning!
