Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • Hi, I love Mom's panel. Is the dinning plans discounted, or is it just paying for food in advance. I was thinking if you bought the same meal through the dinning plan and out of pocket, would it be cheaper through dinning plan.

  • Hi Kelly,

Your question is a popular one. Does the Disney Dining Plan actually save you money, or is it really more of a convenience? The depends. You absolutely can save money with the Disney Dining Plan, especially if you use your table credits at some of the more popular character dining locations or if you tend to order more expensive menu items when you dine out.

In my mind the savings is negligible, mostly because the money that I save I probably wouldn't have spent in the first place if I were not on the plan. We have a family of 5, and it's very rare that we go to a restaurant where all of us order dessert, especially at a counter service restaurant. However, with the dining plan we do.

My favorite thing about the Dining Plan is that your entire vacation is paid for in advance. That means once you get to Walt Disney World you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the trip, rather than look at the prices on the menu and wonder if it fits into your daily budget.

Hope this helps. Have a magical vacation!
