Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • We are thinking abt a Disney trip Jan. 3-7.and staying at the Polynesian. We haven't visited that week and I saw where the marathon weekend starts the 8th, so what can we expect with the crowds? Which building at Polynesian offers best theme park view?

  • Hi Kimberly ~

A trip to Disney is always great and the Polynesian Resort is one of my favorites.  While I don't have a crystal ball, I'd expect the holiday crowds levels at Disney to remain a little higher at least through January 4th or 5th which is the last weekend before a lot of kids have to return to school. A good indicator that Disney is thinking the same thing is that January 5th is the last night of the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights.  After that, you'll probably see a drop in the crowd levels for the rest of your trip.

If you want a longhouse at the Polynesian Resort with a great view of the Magic Kingdom, I'd recommend Tahiti, Hawaii or Tuvalu.  Hawaii is the Concierge Longhouse so those room rates will be higher.  Keep in mind that not all of the rooms in those longhouses face the Magic Kingdom.  The rooms that face south face the Polynesian Resort.  These longhouses are a little farther away from the Great Ceremonial House than some of the other longhouses.  We loved our Magic Kingdom view and it was totally worth the walk to watch Wishes from our balcony if we wanted to in the evenings.

Please feel free to visit again with all of your planning questions. We'll be hEAR for you up until you embark on your pixie dusted trail!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
