Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • Hi, Planning solo trip 11/30-12/4. Please tell me your favorite deluxe, moderate and value resort you would stay in when going solo. Concerned with safety and transportation. I have read you have gone solo several times. Thanks"

  • Hi Karen,

I've been on at least a dozen solo or semi-solo trips to Walt Disney World. Don't tell my kids, but it's become my favorite way to visit the parks.

Here are my thoughts on resorts ...

Value: When I value solo, I stay at the Pop Century. I find it a bit brighter than the All Stars and I like that the parks bus only stops at this one hotel. You can pay a small premium and get a preferred room which will be in one of the buildings closer to the food court and bus. This means less walking alone outside at night. The new Art of Animation resort has regular non-suite rooms. A plus there is that the rooms are accessed via an internal hallway; however, the rooms are all in the Little Mermaid section that's distant from the food court.

Moderate: The best solo trip moderate is Port Orleans French Quarter. This is the smallest of the moderate resorts, so there's less walking to distant buildings. The other moderates are HUGE.

Deluxe: For solo, I prefer the Tower Building of the Contemporary because you're never really outside on your own if you use the monorail. The Beach Club is also great because the main resort is self-contained with no walking to out buildings like at the Poly or Grand Floridian.

I tend to rely on Disney transportation more when I'm solo because I dislike walking through parking lots alone and feel like the bus and boat drivers look out for solo guests.

I'm happy to answer more questions. Please let me know what you need.
