Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- what is rope drop?
- - Asked by Susan from Texas on 11/3/2009
- I know it can be hard to get a handle on all the Disney lingo sometimes. Rope drop is simply another way to say park opening time.
Very often guests will be let part of the way into the park prior to the stated park opening time. For example, if the Magic Kingdom opens at 9:00 a.m., on a busy day guests may be allowed through the entrance turnstiles and onto Main Street at 8:40 (just an example time). This help alleviate congestion at the main park entrance.
While the guests are in the park early, they will not be allowed into the areas with the rides. Instead they will encounter ropes that block the entrances into the individual lands of the park. Rope drop will happen at 9:00, when guests will be let past the rope and onto the rides.
Hope that makes sense.
