Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • Jet Ski's? Boardwalk?! As a future first timer to Disney I have no idea how any of this works. I will be traveling with my friends, we will be 21 at the time- if we are staying at a Value resort are we able to make it to all these different places w/o car?

  • Hi Madison,

You must really be looking forward to your trip with your friends. Water sports are super fun and would be a great way for you and your travel buddies to share some pretty awesome memories. I just recently took my two oldest kids tubing at the Contemporary and we all had a blast. You can also rent personal watercraft, go parasailing, water ski and so much more. In order to reserve a time for these exciting water sports, contact Sammy Duvall's Watersports Centre at the Contemporary.

The Boardwalk is another fun spot for young adults to enjoy themselves with entertainment, great restaurants, clubs and dancing. My personal favorite spot there is JellyRolls, a dueling piano bar. Keep in mind that this place is a popular one, so try to get there early to snag a table for you and all your friends. I have been there a few times when I've stood for a good portion of my time there because we couldn't find a table. They take requests and really engage the audience.

You are able to get to all of these places, without having a car, simply by using the Walt Disney World transportation system. You may have to make a few transfers, but it is possible. To get to the Contemporary, take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and either transfer to the resort monorail or simply walk to the Contemporary. Keep in mind this could take around 45 minutes. From the value resorts to the Boardwalk, you can take a bus to Downtown Disney then transfer to one bound for the Boardwalk Resort. The buses run much later to Downtown Disney. This could take about 45-55 minutes. These times are purely estimated travel times and you may have to add additional time for waiting.

Have an awesome time and I hope many wonderful memories are made among you and your friends.
    ~Allison L
