Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • We are going to the park in January. What is the best time to see animals on the move taking the safari?
  • - Asked by Marianne from Pennsylvania on 11/22/2013
  • Hello Marianne!  Since you will be visiting Walt Disney World in January, most likely the mornings will be chilly.  Many of the animals need to wait until the temperatures warm up a bit before heading out onto the savanna and moving about.  For this reason, I would plan on experiencing the Kilimanjaro Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom in the mid morning to early afternoon.  I have found that my experience has been different every single time I am on the Kilimanjaro Safaris - you just never know what the animals will be doing, so it's a little bit hard to say for sure.  And of course, everything is so weather dependent.

Kilimanjaro Safari is one of my very favorite rides to experience at Disney's Animal Kingdom - I literally could ride around on it all day (if they'd let me!).  I hope you have great luck in viewing lots of animals, and I wish you a truly magical vacation at Walt Disney World!
