Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • We are struggling with the idea of renting a car. We are staying at a Disney resort, Is there a lot of traffic when driving yourself? Does it save time over taking the bus? What is the average wait times for busses to and from parks?

  • Hi Angelika -

We've never rented a car when staying at a Disneyresort hotel, but I know that many of my fellow Moms Panelists do chooseto rent a car. It really does come down to personal preference.

Ithink it does save time to rent a car - it's likely to be faster thanthe Magical Express as well as the transportation to the parks. However, we prefer to save money and leave the driving to Disney. One of the benefits is that you are dropped off right near the front entrance, so you don't need to walk from the parking lot. This is especially useful at the Magic Kingdom, where the parking is at the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC). If you drive, you'll need to park at the TTC and then take the monorail or boat to the park.

To answer your questions, traffic isn't usually too bad. If you take the bus, I'd expect to wait up to 20 minutes for a bus. It doesn't always take that long, but that's what I usually plan for.

I hope that helps you make a decision. Have a great vacation!
