Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • My family and I will be traveling on Disney Dream June 6th, 2012. We are expecting our second child to be born just over 12 weeks before we set sail. Will we have enough time to get the necessary documentation for our infant to sail with us?

  • Hi, Kristin!

As a mom of four who has experienced four very different pregnancies and deliveries, I'm going to give you my honest and best "mom-to-mom" advice and tell you to consider postponing your Disney cruise by a few months.  If not, you definitely need to strongly think about purchasing the Vacation Protection Plan which Disney Cruise Line (DCL) offers.

DCL maintains a strict infant policy which states that infants must be 12 weeks from the day you sail, and if your child happens to postpone his/her arrival, you may not be able to sail because of his/her age on embarkation day.  Of course, you also have to contend with the uncertainty of acquiring your baby's birth certificate before you sail -- not to mention even the possibility of being able to process his/her passport. You're going to have enough to deal with when you move from having one to two little ones in your household. I wouldn't want you to be stressed over your vacation!

Therefore, my suggestion is to call (800) 951-3532 or your travel agent and inform them of your situation.  I am sure that the travel experts will agree that you'll feel much better about everything if you have a little time to spare between the time you deliver, the 12-week infant age requirement and the day you set sail on your Disney cruise.  I hope this helps, and please let me know if you have more questions or concerns.

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
