Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • Going to DL last of December. Do they have Candlelight procession? We will have an 8 yr old with us will he be able to see WOC if we don't do dining package or FP? And, what food locations are best for picky eaters?

  • Hi, Eugene!

I’m glad to hear you’ll be visiting The Happiest Place on Earth this December! There’s nothing quite as magical as seeing the theme parks all decked out for the holiday season.

Yes, the Candlelight Processional has been an annual tradition at the Disneyland Resort since 1955! Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for specific dates and details as December approaches; however, the event is usually held in early to mid-December.

Your family will need FASTPASS tickets to gain access to one of the World of Color viewing areas and experience all elements of the show. Since you’re visiting during a popular time of year, I recommend that you make the World of Color FASTPASS ticket distribution line, located near Grizzly River Run, your first stop upon park opening.

One of my favorite character dining restaurants for breakfast is Goofy’s Kitchen because of the wide variety of food options to please even picky eaters. In addition to buffet-style breakfast food, it also offers brunch items, a variety of desserts, a soft serve sundae bar and more food specifically for kids. My son loves the Mickey-shaped waffles and the pizza choices. The Pacific Wharf area of Disney California Adventure Park is another great choice because there are different types of food available in close proximity, all surrounding a large common dining area. While one person may want a burrito from Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill, another may want a rice bowl from Lucky Fortune Cookery or a bread bowl from Pacific Wharf Café. All these choices are just a few steps from each other, so it’s easier to please differing palates.

I hope this helps, Eugene, and that you have a wonderful visit to the Disneyland Resort! Please write back with more questions as you continue to plan.

    Wishing you magic,
