My 9yr son and I are going on the new Disney Dream in Oct 2011 (3 night trip). Can't wait! He will love the Kids club and the all that available for him, I'll have some time on my hands. As a single parent what is there to do for just me besides the spa?

    Carie, Carie, Carie!

Although I love my 10-year-old son with every fiber in my being, parenting a boy that age can be taxing! Therefore, let me lay out a plan as you and your little prince enjoy not only time together aboard the Disney Dream...but time separately, too!

First of all, rest well knowing that your son is taken care of with specially-trained counselors who not only know how to entertain him but how to care for him, too. I talked with them extensively last week about their safety and security policies and were incredibly impressed at how they genuinely care about each little guest's experience.

Next, can I just tell you that the Senses Spa & Salon is affectionately known in my house as THE "Spaaaahhh!" now?! Once you're on board and your son is tucked away where he wants to be, you need to check into the services (and sometimes deals) they have on the first sailing day. I personally recommend purchasing a pass for The Rainforest -- a thermal suite with various mild steam and saunas, a Hammam and sensory experience showers.

You'll certainly want to dine with your son in one of the amazing restaurants, but to meet others and have an adult-only dining experience, you should consider a reservation at Remy or Palo. Plus, you'll also want to visit The District -- a series of lounges and nightclubs! Make sure you relax at the Quiet Cove Pool and enjoy some adult time in the Cove Cafe. There's even an adult-only area at Castaway Cay -- Serenity Bay -- which helps us parents "recharge" and get ready to take on new adventures with the kids.  Lastly, you'll want to peruse your Personal Navigator for special family activities you can do together on board or for activities specifically designed just for single adults.

I hope this helps you plan. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
