My 11 yr old daughter has William's syndrome. She has severe speech delays. She wears ID to identify her.She has no stranger danger, is mentally handicapped, but mobile. She becomes frustrated with long waits. Can we get a GAC? Any other tips for safety? TY!

Hi Lisa! Disney is really at the top of their game when it comes to welcoming guests with all types of disabilities. They are very accommodating in all instances, from attractions to special seating for parades and fireworks. The Guest Assistance Card is card given at Guest Relations to parties (up to 5 persons) who are traveling with someone who has a disability or may require additional assistance in order to experience WDW attractions. You will need to speak with a Cast Member at Guest Relations at your park of choice, and the cast member will be able to determine what level of GAC your party will need based on the information given by your party.. Once you have a GAC and wish to ride an attraction, this card will alert the cast members attending the queue that you may need to access special seating or utilize a different entrance. As the GAC is implemented at the theme parks, you are not able to receive it at the resorts, solely in the theme parks. Most attractions do offer alternate waiting areas for guests who require assistance when it comes to longer lines/attraction traffic. As for safety suggestions, Disney is a very safe vacation destination, and Cast Members are trained extensively to deal with children who wander off, so rest assured that it is a safe environment. It's a great idea that you have the special ID for her, and I've also heard of parents using temporary tattoo's to place their childs name and information on. You can look these up on the internet. My best recommendation would be try and circumvent areas that might be bottlenecks for her, suchas after parade/fireworks exiting. Take your time and browse the shops and exit at your leisure. Hope this helps you plan your magical vacation! -Malanie
