My 5 yr. hates loud noises. The word "fireworks" freaks him out but I think if he would watch he would enjoy. Are the fireworks loud or more just visual? Is there a location to watch Wishes or Illuminations that limits noise but allows viewing?

    Hello Bethany!

Illuminations at Epcot is not especially loud, but there are brief fireworks at the end of the show which are on the loud side (as well as few burst of flames during the show).  Illuminations is also the type of firework show you should watch from inside Epcot to get a true appreciation of the show.  However, if any type of loud noise will upset your child, you may want  watch from the Boardwalk area.  From here you'll be able to see the upper portion of the fireworks but you won't be able to see the portion of the show that takes place on the water.

Probably a better alternative would be for you to view Wishes from the Polynesian beach.  From here you'll be able to enjoy Wishes without all the noise as well as the Electric Water Pageant which begins at 9:00 (note: if Wishes is scheduled for 9:00, the Electric Water Pageant will begin immediately following Wishes.  This might be the better option to ease your son into the joy of firework shows!

I hope this helps.  Diane  :)
