Hi, my youngest is 2. I understand that he will not have his own DDP but how exactly does that work since the rest of us will. Does he eat off of our plate? Do we buy him a kids meal and pay there? What about buffets, drinks, desserts?

    Hi Nicole!

I'm so excited to hear your family will be visiting Walt Disney World soon!  I'm not sure if you've tried the Disney Dining Plan before, but if not, I think you'll be glad you did.  My family uses it on almost every vacation we take and we love both the convenience and the value it offers.

You're correct that the Disney Dining Plan is not available for children under the age of 3 years, but there are still great options for your little one.  If you're dining at a buffet or family-style restaurant, your youngest can have their own plate and dine for free, including a beverage and dessert.  At restaurants where you order off a menu, you're welcome to share with your child off your plate or to purchase a kid's meal for an additional charge (kids' meals usually come with a drink and dessert, so those would be included in that price).  When my own sons were toddlers, we found ourselves dining at quite a few of those buffet and family-style restaurants during our vacation since they could pick out their own favorite foods.

I hope that helps with your vacation planning, Nicole!  If you have any other questions, please just let us know.

    Have a magical day!
