2 years ago when my husband and I went to Animal Kingdom we rode Expedition Everest twice and never saw the animatronic Yetti. We're finally able to go again this year and I am determined to see him, but I have no clue where to look for him. Help please!

    Hi Christy!

Expedition Everest happens to be a special ride for us as it was my daughters very first thrill ride experience! She was able to experience EE when it opened back in 2006, and the Yeti was in full functional mode. "Betty", as she's affectionately called, is perched on the right side of the cave, right before the main 80 foot drop. When approaching the drop, the Yeti would "swipe" at the riders, her long arm almost grazing tops of heads! It was both a thrilling and exciting experience, which really made EE extremely popular.

In 2009, there were structural issues with the Yeti, and they ceased having her reach out to the riders. Strobe lights were added to highlight the Yeti, and this is how guests will find her prior to the drop. There have been several ideas circulated on how to repair the issues at hand, and we have no idea when she will be in functional mode again. Here's hoping that repairs are being made as we speak, and you will be able to experience the full thrill of Expedition Everest!

Hope this helps you plan your magical vacation!
