Hi. I have 3-year-old twins and a 4-year-old, all of who are still in car seats. If we take the free bus Disney offers from the airport to the hotel, do we bring car seats? Or does the bus have car seats?

    Hi Michelle,

I also have twins plus a slightly older child. We had many years when all three were in car seats or booster seats when we drove at home.

The situation at Disney World is different. Since the Disney Magical Express service uses coach buses, the equivalent of public transportation, car seats are not required. There's not really even a way to anchor them in if you brought your own. In fact, none of the free Disney transportation options requires car seats, nor do they have a way to use car seats. This is quite standard with public transportation in the U.S.

For me, not having to deal with the car seats at Disney was a HUGE benefit. I loved not having to wrangle three squirmy kids into their harnesses. A break for mom! However, some guests do feel squeamish about any form of travel without a car seat. If you fall into this category, then you'll probably feel more comfortable with a rental car.

I'm going to point you to the independent website blog.touringplans.com which has two articles with photos that may help you understand the Disney transportation better. Go to that site and search for "Frequently Asked Questions About Disney's Magical Express" and "A Walt Disney World Transportation Primer: Monorails, Buses, and Boats, Oh My." Sometimes it helps to be able to visualize what you'll be encountering.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know what else we can do to help.
