    Elisama from CA Asked

This year I am just skipping the birthday party and taking my daughter to Disneyland for her birthday this year it happened to fall on thanksgiving can I purchase an annual pass that has that day blocked out and still be able to activate it that day?!

Hello, Elisama! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

A birthday at the Disneyland Resort sounds like an absolutely fabulous idea! Make sure to stop by City Hall in Disneyland Park to pick up a complimentary birthday button for your daughter. This will garner her a multitude of birthday wishes from Cast Members throughout the day.

When you purchase an Annual Passport at a Disneyland Resort ticket booth on a blockout day, it is possible that they will make a one-time exception to allow you to activate your Annual Passport and enter the parks that day. However, this decision is based on park capacity. Since Thanksgiving and the surrounding days are generally very popular times to visit the Disneyland Resort, there might be the possibility that the parks will reach capacity and you won’t be able to use your newly-purchased Annual Passport that day.

What you might consider instead is arriving at the parks as early as possible and purchasing a one-day theme park ticket. Or purchase your ticket online at least 24 hours in advance and head straight to the gates with your ticket voucher. You can then enter the parks and enjoy your day without having to worry about blockout days at all. Then, at the end of the day, stop by a ticket booth and upgrade your ticket to an Annual Passport. The cost of your ticket will be applied to the cost of your Annual Passport and you will only have to pay the difference. Just keep in mind that this must be done while the original ticket is still valid.

I hope this helps and I hope your daughter has a fantastic birthday at the Happiest Place on Earth!
