I have a 6 year old and a 70 year old mom. We are planning our trip there and I would like to know the best time to go as far as weather and when it's a slow time?? Thank you.

Howdy, Jacquelyn! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thanks for your question. I am delighted to hear that you are planning a multi-generational trip to the Disneyland Resort! There is truly something (or LOTS of things!) for everyone and I know the memories that you make will last a lifetime.

I have visited the parks at many different times throughout the year and I can honestly say that you simply can’t go wrong no matter which date you choose. Some of my favorite vacations, however, have been in April, September, and early November. Spring and fall usually mean the weather is just about perfect - pleasantly toasty during the day and somewhat cool in the evenings and early mornings.

As far as slow times go at the Disneyland Resort, there really isn’t an off season anymore. With so many unique and exciting offerings at the parks, it remains a popular destination all year long. Although, if you are able to avoid the typical vacation seasons like spring break, summer, and Christmas break, you can usually miss the extremely large crowds. With a school-age daughter that might be a bit difficult though.

I would focus on the dates work best for your family and budget and know that you are going to have a wonderful time whether you experience low crowds or not. Then employ some tried and true strategies like arriving at the parks early in the morning, using any early admission options that may be available to you, making efficient use of Disney’s FASTPASS Service, and upgrading to Disney MaxPass to save you even more time. And, of course, come back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with any planning questions you may have!

    See ya real soon!
