I have an 8 and 9 year old that will be visiting. They love thrill rides (roller coasters), but not scary things (Haunted Mansion). Since I have not been on Expedition Everest (yet!), do you think that ride would be too scary?

I have an eight-year-old daughter with a similar profile. She doesn't mind fast. But dark and scary are awful for her. She refuses to go on Expedition Everest. Her twin sister LOVES it.

Expedition Everest is both thrilling and (in my opinion) quite scary. There's that part where the Yeti is jumping out at you that terrifies me every time. I have a few suggestions to help you determine if EE is right for your sons:

    1. Find a way for you to go on it once first. This will really the best way to gauge how it would be for your family.
    2. Go to YouTube and search for an Expedition Everest video. Many guests videotape their experiences on Disney rides and post them there for others to see. See what your sons' reaction to the video is.
    3. Take them on the Maelstrom ride in the Norway pavilion at Epcot first. This is a MUCH calmer and gentler ride than Expedition Everest, but there is a large creature in there that is not dissimilar to the Yeti. If the boys are upset by the Maelstrom then I would definitely say that Everest should be a no-go.

    Hope this helps.
