I have a 5 year old that we are taking in 103 days. What events would be good for him that I would need to make reservations for now? This is our first trip and we are unsure what we need to have set up in advanced...

    Hi Richard,

We on the Disney Parks Moms Panel are happy to help you plan your first trip to Walt Disney World! It is great that you are thinking ahead in your planning.

Since you are within 180 days of arrival at Walt Disney World, you can start to make reservations for dining at Walt Disney World. I recommend that you do this as soon as possible to be sure that you can go to the restaurants that you want to when you want to. Your son might enjoy character dining, such as dining with Mickey Mouse and his friends at Chef Mickey's or enjoying a meal with Donald Duck and friends in their safari gear at Tusker House Restaurant.

Soon, you will be able to make Disney FastPass+ selections. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort, you will be able to make the selections 60 days ahead of your check in date, and if you are not staying at a Walt Disney World resort, you will be able to make them 30 days ahead of your check in date. Disney FastPass+ selections allow you to reserve access to a few attractions each day so that you can experience them with shorter wait times. You do need to be sure to have theme park admission purchased in order to make Disney FastPass+ selections. In order to consider what attractions and theme parks will appeal most to your son, I suggest that you view the Walt Disney World planning video. You can see what attractions and experiences are most interesting to him.

Be sure that you have a My Disney Experience account set up. This will allow you to make and manage your dining, Disney FastPass+, and resort reservations.

I would love to help you plan more Richard; however, I am limited in the amount of space that I have to answer. Please do write back if you have further questions!
