Hi! I have a 1 1/2 year old we plan to do magic kingdom and animal kingdom. We are staying off of the Disney resorts. Do you think it’s worth it to get a magic band ? If so, does my toddler also need one?

Hello Jillian, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I love the convenience of MagicBands.  I have often said I wish I could have a MagicBand for all my daily activities outside of Walt Disney World!  Before these wonderful devices were introduced, I was the keeper of tickets for everyone in my family and I remember being nervous about misplacing or losing a ticket as I juggled them in and out of my bag or pocket.
Guests scan their tickets or MagicBands at the entrance tapstyles to the Theme Parks, as well as the touchpoints to enter a FastPass+ queue.  For some FastPass+ attractions, guests scan their ticket or band twice; once at the entrance and again closer to the loading platform.  Jillian, while you can use your ticket to do this, if I were you I would purchase a MagicBand, at least for yourself.  Your hands will be full with your toddler, and I think you will be grateful for the convenience.   Since your little one is a guest of the Mouse and will not require a ticket, they will not need a MagicBand either.  They will simply enter the Parks and FastPass+ queue with the rest of your party.

Although MagicBands may be purchased at prior to your arrival, your trip is coming up quickly and you may not receive them before you leave.  You will find MagicBands available at many shops within Walt Disney World, including Disney Springs, where a friendly Cast Member can help you link your band to your account.
Have a wonderful vacation, and please let us know if we can help you with anything else.
