    Kim Asked

    My 9 year old eats nothing but french fries, fruit and the flat bread pizza only at the California Grill. Nothing else. We have tried anything and have eaten at almost every restaurant in the parks. For my husband and I, yes, of coarse. Any suggestions?

    Kim,

    My wife and I are right there in your place. We have two girls who have resisted trying anything new. Here are some things we have done to mix it up;

    No more buffets: They know that a buffet means that they can decline anything new, and that we can go get the their regular standards, because they are right there, at no added cost. So removing that safety helps.

    Shameless bribery: Simple rule. If they don't try new things at dinner, they don't get a treat that night. And they have to find 1 new thing that they LIKE and EAT.

    Find close options: We have had success at Mama Melrose's and Via Napoli, moving them to other pizza options, ones with some healthy toppings. And we get better food for is that way too!

    Wave the white flag: Put him in a Child Activity Center one night and go treat yourselves to a dinner out that is free of the fight to get him to open up his taste buds. He gets his fries and fruit, and you get to try whatever restaurant you have been dying to visit in the past, but knew would lead to problems with his restrictive diet. It is you vacation too, remember?

    write me back if you have any follow up questions!

    Have a magical (and delicious) vacation!
