My 16 year old daughter will be taking a 4 night cruise to Castaway Cay with a friend and her family. I want to send her with money to pay for her own extras, but noticed that cash cannot be used on the ship. What other forms of payment are accepted?

Welcome aboard, John! What a special treat for your daughter that she gets to set sail with Disney Cruise Line and one of her best friends! They're in for an amazing adventure!

During online check-in, Disney allows guests to choose who will pay for additional charges for each guest in the stateroom. You can also call Disney Cruise Line at 800-951-3532 and let them know her reservation number, and assign your own credit card to be linked to her Key To The World Card, which is what guests use online to pay for extras. Maybe you'll give her a budget, as there are plenty of fun opportunities to spend money onboard, and we all know teenager girls love to shop!

Alternatively, you may send her with a Disney Gift Card, which can be used in the shops onboard. When we sail, my kids have Disney Gift Cards to use so that they have a set amount of money, and when it's gone, it's gone. But, they have the independence of being able to purchase in the shops themselves, without Mom and Dad handing over payment at the checkout. They love that!

Another fun idea may be to thank the family taking your daughter by surprising them with a little treat in their stateroom when they arrive. Check out the onboard gifts and amenities which are available for pre-order, John. A Boy Voyage package, including your choice of a specialty wine, waiting as the parents arrive in the room for the first time, with a note from you, would be a really nice touch! You'll see the other fun options online too! Decorations, food and other treats are all available.

I hope those ideas help as your daughter counts down to her magical vacation, John!
