I have a 9,5, and 4 year old boys. We are going to florida near the end of march. So I am starting to plan our trip. Is there any recommendations on where to go and where not to go. My boys love animals, but are not roller coaster people.

Hello Sarah, you've got a great name! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Your first Walt Disney World vacation is fast approaching, your boys must be so excited! Since your boys love animals I suggest that you spend some time at Disney's Animal Kingdom. There are more than 1,700 exotic animals in this park and you can even spot rare animals on Kilimanjaro Safaris. My 5-year-old son absolutely loves this attraction. This is also a great park if any of your boys love dinosaurs. The Boneyard is a fun play area that has slides, rope bridges, and a dig site for excavating fossils. As a warning, I took my son on DINOSAUR and he cried during the whole ride. It is dark and a bit scary for the younger ones, so I advise you to look up the attraction details to judge whether your children will be comfortable with riding. Animal Kingdom also has some amazing shows. Our favorite is Festival of the Lion King.

If your boys love Star Wars, then you have to check out Disney's Hollywood Studios. Your boys can be a part of the Jedi Training Academy and take turns defeating Darth Vader, or as my son says, "Dark Vader". It also has a great Pixar themed area with my son's favorite attraction, Toy Story Midway Mania. The Magic Kingdom would also be a great place for your boys. There are many rides that they would enjoy including classics like Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, and The Haunted Mansion.

Every park except for Epcot has at least one roller coaster but there are so many other things to do in each park that you can easily skip the coasters and find other ways to enjoy yourselves.

I know that the information I gave was a bit general, but the parks are so diverse and accommodating that anyone can find something to do in each park. If you have any specific questions about your children's interests and where to go, I'd be more than happy to help.

I am a recent graduate from Ball State University and mother to my 5-year-old son. We love all things Disney and when we aren’t watching Disney films or planning our next vacation, we love to go to touring Disney shows. I also love to cook, listen to music, read books, and paint. With my experience planning vacations and navigating the parks from a single parent’s perspective, I hope to be able to add a little “pixie dust” to your vacation! Learn More About Sarah
