We have a 4 year old boy. Would renting a car make my stay at WDW easier? We are staying on the property.

There are differing schools of thought on this very topic, but I happen to be of the belief that renting a vehicle does indeed simplify a Walt Disney World vacation.  Here's why:

    - patience is indeed a virtue, but not one I possess.  Waiting on a bus, ferry, or monorail to arrive does not top my list of desired activities while vacationing.  I prefer the ability to walk to my car, turn on the A/C and go.  Now.  But maybe that's just me.

    - having your own vehicle affords you the convenience of dining at any of the resorts, at any time.  Because busses do not run in between resort hotels, it can be difficult to dine at a resort restaurant (other than the one you're staying in) if you don't have your own means of transportation.  If you do, however, it opens up a world of dining options.  And I really like a world of options.

    - with your own rental car, you can bypass the Magical Express.  While the Magical Express transport from the airport is priced just right (free!) and convenient, it can be time consuming.  My family travels a great distance just to get to Orlando.  Once we arrive, the last thing we want to do is wait in a lengthy line to get a bus that will make multiple stops before dropping us at our resort.  If we rent a vehicle, we don't have to wait at all.

    - last but not least is the ability to leave your "stuff" in the car.  We like to leave a change of clothes, bottles of water and other things in the car while we tour the parks.  Most of the time we don't use them, but it's nice knowing that our "stuff" is there should we need it.

We, too, stay on property.  Even so, I've yet to forego the rental car.  I consider it a worthwhile investment towards a stress (and wait!) free vacation.
