Is is worth going to Rafiki's Planet Watch? When is the best time to go there?

Hi Stacey!  My grandchildren LOVE Rafiki's Planet Watch!  You did not mention the age of your children as that will have a determining factor if this is worth a stop in your day at the Animal Kingdom Park.  The younger kids will enjoy the train ride to get out there and the adults will enjoy seeing some of the back stage magic of the safari and the animals. You will pass the night homes of such animals as the elephants and rhinoceros among others.  Once you arrive you will find naturalists along the path to the main building and it is worth the time to stop and listen to their information. They often have an animal with them to see up close and personal.  Once you reach the main building you can enter right away or veer left after parking your strollers and head to the petting area. You can brush the sheep and goats and if you are lucky you can watch some of them through their training exercises done by Disney cast members. They are amazing to watch.  You will also see other fun animals located just beyond a fence so it is like a mini zoo.

Inside the most incredible thing to do is more for adults but every morning there is a vet on duty often doing a simple procedure on an animal. It could be something as exploratory trying to find what is ailing it or surgery to fix a problem. You can watch behind the glass as the vet explains the procedure and the reason it is being done. Some smaller children might not understand so be careful. Once this is done the vet usually comes out and talks for a while answering your questions.
Lots goes on inside....the sound booths, character meet and greets without the long lines, and naturalists with small animals for the children to touch and learn about.  The best time to go is first thing in the morning before crowds get heavier and lines longer but whenever you can fit it into your plans it is a fun experience!
