I am wondering about whether we should get to the parks on weekend or weekdays? We will be in Orlando 1/18-1/25/13. Monday is a holiday and we have looked at park hours and realize we could gain time over the weekend, but not us about the crowds. Advice?

    Hi Kim!

It's so nice to hear from you again!
Here's an idea of what I'd plan for my family based on your Friday arrival and considering the Holiday Monday.

Magic Kingdom just has to be your first stop in the parks on your kids' First Walt Disney World vacation. Head straight there on Friday. For the weekend, I'd suggest Animal Kingdom for Saturday and Hollywood Studios for Sunday. I always tend to stick to the 'other parks' on the weekend days just knowing that more local crowds are likely to flock to Magic Kingdom.

On the Holiday Monday, if everyone is still raring to go, certainly go ahead and head into a park! Historically, this isn't a 'high' crowd level day although it may be slightly busier than average. If you'd prefer to avoid extra crowds entirely, consider making this your first "rest day" of the holiday. Visit Downtown Disney for the morning and relax at your resort pool, weather permitting, for the afternoon.

Tuesday, consider Epcot as your park to visit for the day. By the time you reach Wednesday, Thursday and even Friday you'll most likely be deciding as a family which of your favourite parks you should return to. Magic Kingdom is a great choice for Wednesday for the full day and then let the kids vote on where they'd like to spend the day Thursday.

If you have the Park Hopper Option on your tickets, you can of course mix things up each day or take a half day off to rest here and there as you please. Parks which have Evening Extra Magic Hours tend to be the busiest, particularly in the latter part of the day and evening, so if crowds aren't your thing and the little ones won't be staying up late anyhow, planning around them may be key.

I hope this information helps you out Kim!
Please feel free to write back if I may assist you further! It's my pleasure to assist you.
Wishing you a simply Magical time at Walt Disney World!
