I was wondering about taking a 3 and 6 year old to the Star Wars weekend on June 13. I have read some things online that say it is EXTREMELY crowded and can be a bit scary. We love Star Wars but are wondering if we should skip it and go on Monday.

You've got nothing to fear!  I was just at Disney Studios last week for my first Star Wars Weekend and couldn't get enough of it!  There's nothing like seeing a sea of Storm Troopers march down the street in the Star Wars parade!  Worth the price of admission alone!

Those who have said it was "scary" are probably just cautioning you that the characters are life-like—and they are—but that makes the entire experience more memorable!  As a parent, you'd be able to see what characters might scare your child from afar....If you want to really experience all the fun, dress up your kids as their favorite Star Wars character and don't forget your lightsaber!

FYI: You actually missed the scariest part: the crowds on the first Star Wars weekend....that's when most of the collectors go to buy the limited-supply of collectible figurines.  (I thought the crowd last weekend was very manageable.)  For your average family of Star Wars fans, the weekend is a thumbs-up!

May the force be with you!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
