Hi! I was wondering if the Pirate Adventure Cruises at WDW are available in other languages than English? My 10 years old speaks a little bit of English only. Can we ask for a bilingual Cast Member when we make our reservation for this activity? Thank you

Greetings and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Sarah!

I am so excited that you are planning a Pirate Adventure Cruise for your little buccaneer! The cruises are so much fun and allow kids 4 to 12 to sail for 2 hours following clues to discover a hidden treasure.

I have just spoken to a Cast Member to confirm, and the cruises are only offered in English. At the time you make your reservation you can add a note explaining that your child does not speak English fluently and asking for a French-speaking Cast Member, however they cannot guarantee that your request will be granted.

I live in Brazil and my 7-year-old daughter speaks a little bit of English. I also worry about how she will interact with others during activities where English is spoken, but I can tell you from our personal experiences that language has never been an issue. She loves Jedi Training: Trials of The Temple, and we did some preparation at home before the first time she participated. We watched videos on YouTube and I explained everything that was going to happen. There is a great video from a cruise leaving Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort that shows the kids preparing to leave and with the treasure chest at the end. Maybe if your son knows what to expect he will feel more confident, even with the language barrier. Children usually watch closely and are quick to learn, especially because they read body language well. You know your child better than anyone and whether or not he is going to feel too shy or bothered by not being able to sometimes understand a few words.

Sarah, did you know that the Disney Parks Moms Panel is available in French? Stop by next time and send a question over to Lynne, my best quebécóise friend.

    Best magical wishes,
