    Kimberly from FL Asked

I was wondering on the magic band, do I need to purchase one for my under 10 children or can I link them to a band I purchase?

    Hi Kimberly,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am happy to help you with your MagicBand question.

A MagicBand can be used for many purposes, including as your ticket media for Walt Disney World theme parks as well as using your Disney FastPass+ selections when you are at a theme park. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel, your MagicBand will also be how you can access your resort hotel room, and you will be able to link it to a credit card for purchases around Walt Disney World.

If you are not staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel, and choose to not have MagicBands, you will be issued a credit card-size and feel card to use as your theme park admission media and to access your Disney FastPass+ selections. I traveled with friends this summer who used these cards, and they worked very well for them. My family had MagicBands, so whenever we used our MagicBands at a theme park, they used their cards.

Each member of your traveling party, even children, does need his or her own MagicBand or card. You cannot use your MagicBand for your children. You could all choose to use cards, which will be issued to you when you have Walt Disney World theme park admission, or you can all use MagicBands, or a combination, but each guest does need their own. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel, MagicBands will be complimentary with your stay. Guests not staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel are welcome to purchase them if they wish.

The exception to this is children under the age of three, who do not needs MagicBands or cards because they do not pay admission to Walt Disney World theme parks.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Kimberly! Do let us know if you have any further questions.
