I am wondering how much we should budget for meals at WDW for our family of 5? 2 adults and 3 kids ages 9, 8 & 5. We are not eligible for the Dining plan. Just a quick serve lunch, 2 snacks & table service dinner each and per day. Thank you!

Hi Jennifer! Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Budgeting can surely help you plan for an epic Walt Disney World Resort vacation, and I've done that same research when I planned my trips in the past. I've also learned a lot about my own eating habits on vacation and adjusted the plans along the way, so I'd advise you to leave room for a few unexpected changes. The portions at the Walt Disney World Resort are substantial, and sometimes one dish was enough for my husband and me.

Because budgeting will depend on how much you eat and what you will order, I'll provide you with some menus for you to browse and build a budget that's perfect for your gang!

My favorite choices for a Quick Service lunch are places like Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, the Satu'li Canteen, and Woody's Lunch Box. The Fajita Platter served at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe can easily be shared among an adult and a child, so you can probably plan around that cost.

For snacks, you can surely budget for fantastic options like the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich and the Funnel Cake with Powdered Sugar; both served at the exceptional Sleepy Hollow at Magic Kingdom Park. They're both priced around $8 each, so you can factor that cost on your daily plan.

The Table Service options, though, offer a much broader price range. The price difference between Tony's Town Square's Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo and Yachtsman Steakhouse's 16-oz Rib-Eye Steak is so big that it can have a huge impact you budgeting efforts, so my best suggestion is to take a look at the menus of the places you want to visit and use your knowledge of your family eating habits to guess the table order.

I hope your planning moments are as fun as your trip is going to be, Jennifer. Please stop by the Disney Parks Moms Panel again if you want more advice or help. We are here for you!

May the magic be with you,

    Julie
