Hi Aralee,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am delighted that you brought this question to us!
I love that you are trying to plan for the crowds. They can certainly be intense. Having visited the Walt Disney World Resort during January, March, April, May, June, July, August, October, November and December, I will advise you to be prepared for crowds no matter what month you choose. Several online crowd calendars exist that might be helpful. We have used ones from Undercover Tourist and Touring Plans.
There are some times of year when the crowds are more manageable. I had shorter wait time in lines when visiting in early March, early April, and the third week of August - the week that many kids have gone back to school. Early in March was gorgeous. The weather was perfect. November, December and January can be tricky in terms of weather. This past January, I visited during the first week and the temperatures were frigid.
I would also check the runDisney race schedules. The races attract lots of additional guests to the parks and resorts so, unless you plan to run, you may want to avoid those times of year. Also avoid major holidays - Christmas and Fourth of July can be particularly crowded. Check the schedules for
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Party nights require an additional ticket.
Aralee, as long as you make
Fast Pass+ selections and advanced dining reservations you will minimize your wait time in lines!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
