Hello Wonderful Moms Panel! So excited, first trip ever to WDW this year with my 9-year old daughter. We're staying the first week in Dec and I would love to know which resort would you recommend based on her age The Contemporary or Animal Kingdom Lod

Welcome Khadijah!  It is always exciting to help someone plan an exciting first trip to Walt Disney World. Your daughter is going to have the most magical vacation ever and you will forever have the memories you share with her.

Both of the Disney resorts you have mentioned are in the deluxe category which will give you the most amenities possible. Both will have restaurants, larger rooms, and special treats available to you.  The biggest difference between the Contemporary resort and the Animal Kingdom resort will be the location. Since this is your daughter's first visit I would recommend the Contemporary for your resort choice. You can request a park view when making your reservation which would give you a chance to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks each night from your room. Beyond that it is quite magical to just see the lights of the park. Even if you are not able to get the park view the rooms are large and the location is just steps away from the Magic Kingdom. You are also on the monorail line making it easy to reach the Polynesian and Grand Floridian resorts for dining or just visits to both.  The Epcot monorail is also easy to access which gives you another park where you are not having to catch a bus.  And finally you can simply head to the marina to hop on a boat and visit Fort Wilderness which has many fun activities for all guests.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is very nice and a favorite for those who love animals as you see them from your balcony night and day as they feed on the Savannah. But for a first time visitor the lure of the Magic Kingdom cannot be beat. My vote definitely is the Contemporary.

The count down begins for your magical vacation next December. I know it will be hard to have to wait but it gives you plenty of time to plan and get everything in place such as dining and FastPass+.  Let us know if we can help you with your planning.
