Just wondered if you recommend taking your purse into the theme parks or carrying a backpack? And, if I carried a backpack with money and other things in it, can I take it on rides? Thanks!

    Hi Katie,

Over the years that I've visited the parks (which will be 40 magical years later this year), I have carried both purses & backpacks into the parks. I think it all depends on what you'll be taking in. I like to roll as hands free as possible at Disney World.

When I was younger & didn't need to carry as many things around as I do now, I carried a small purse with a long shoulder strap. I really only needed money, park ticket, credit card, phone, Chap Stick & Brush. Now, I don't know how I survived only carrying those few items.

These days, I always carry a backpack - nothing too large but one with several compartments to keep me organized so that I can quickly put my hands on things. I went to a sporting goods store & got one that has wider & padded straps that would be more comfortable for all day use.

If traveling during the cooler months, I roll up our jackets & put them at the bottom. I also throw in some snacks & disposable ponchos if it looks like rain. I keep my camera & Park Maps in one of the outer compartments.  It also has a space for a water bottles.

I carry a small wallet with my money & put our tickets in it as well so I have all of that in one place. I always keep it in an easily accessible compartment as well. Make sure you put your name & cell phone number of each (backpack, camera, etc.).

You will be able to take your backpack on the rides. The downside to a backpack is that you have to slip it off every time you sit down in a seat with a back. The small purse was easier to deal with in that aspect because I never had to take it off.

If you can travel light enough for a small purse - go for it. If not, a backpack is a good alternative to a larger purse that may constantly fall off your shoulder & get in the way.

Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
