What wk in Oct. is the best time to come for low crowds, nice weather, low hotel prices, free dining? Also would like to enjoy Halloween decor. What is there for kids at Halloween time at Disney?

    Hi Mary!

October is such a great time to vacation at Walt Disney World, it's scary!  It's my own favorite month to visit for a lot of the reasons you already mentioned. The crowds tend to be lower, the weather is great (not as hot as the summer, but still warm enough to enjoy the pools and water parks), there are usually amazing Special Offers to save you money on your vacation package (three cheers for Free Dining!) and who wouldn't love the frighteningly fun decorations and activities?

In terms of lower crowds, the entire month of October is terrific, so you really can't go wrong no matter what dates you choose. If to narrow it down, I'd recommend anytime the 2 weeks before Halloween, and there is plenty to see and do to get in the Halloween spirit:

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party: Be sure you don't miss trick-or-treating around Magic Kingdom, Mickey's "Boo-to-You" Halloween Parade, Happy HalloWishes fireworks show, the Villains Castle Show and the eerie entertainment throughout the park.

Mickey's Spooktacular Celebration: Surprise your kids with an in-room surprise celebration from Disney Floral and Gifts.

Enjoy some of the sweet treats and spooky merchandise items that are only available this time of year.

Watch the Disney Parks Blog for other Halloween events that may be happening during your trip.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
