    Eric from IL Asked

My wife's nephew was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy We will be at Disney World 2nd week of May. All documented. We are staying off property. Is there a way to get some time with some of the characters and make some extra magic?

    Hi Eric,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Wow - your trip is quickly approaching!

Extra magic is first about making the trip as manageable as possible. Review the Services for Guests with Disabilities Guide and be sure to take a look at the Guide Maps for Guests with Disabilities. The Epcot Guide, for example, will give you additional information about what services are available in that park.

Second, if you have not done so already, be sure to create a My Disney Experience Account, list everyone in your travel party in the My Family & Friends List, then link theme park tickets. Once you follow those steps, you can make Fast Pass+ selections, up to three per day that you have valid theme park admission. Fast Pass+ selections minimize your wait times in line.

Third, we always make advanced dining reservations for character meals so that we can see all of our favorite characters without waiting in line. The characters stop by each table, pose for pictures and sign autographs.

Finally, I suggest that you call 407-560-2547 and speak with a cast member in Disability Services. When I have called, they have been especially helpful as we map out our park strategy for my husband who has a mobility disability.

Eric, if your wife's nephew will have difficulty tolerating the standard line queue, register for the Disability Access Service when you arrive. Use this service along with Fast Pass+ and watch the extra magic spread!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
