Wife and I are early 30s planning a resort-only getaway for wedding anniversary. Need help choosing between Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, or Wilderness Lodge. Looking for most immersive and relaxing, least kiddie resort. Dining not strong factor.

    Matt:

Congratulations on your anniversary! My husband and I have been to Disney World several times without children or visiting the parks. You wouldn't be disappointed with any of your choices, but your phrase "least kiddie" resort finds me recommending Boardwalk to you. But let me tell you how I got there...

Wilderness Lodge is every boy scout's dream, and consequently is a favorite of families. When my husband and I visited its Artist's Point restaurant for our anniversary dinner, we were disappointed at the noise level from so many children. Although dining is not one of your deciding factors, the children at the restaurant are a reminder that this wouldn't be my top pick for "least kiddie."

Although the Yacht Club seems to be more serious while the Beach Club is definitely teaming with families, they share a pool. Pools at Disney, in my opinion, are a major part of a deluxe resort. Both its pirate slide and sandy-bottom toddler pool make it a haven for screaming children. So let's mark them off your list.

That leaves me with the Boardwalk Inn, which happens to be my favorite Deluxe Hotel. From its lobby to   its quiet pool, I find it one of the more relaxing resorts on property. Consider indulging in one of its Garden Rooms with a King Bed loft, Jacuzzi tub, an extra half-bath for you, a kitchenette and a lovely courtyard area from which to view the nightly Illumination fireworks. Talk about romantic and quiet! Best of all, the Inn allows you to enjoy the entire Boardwalk, with its surrey bikes, nightly street performers and magicians, upscale shops, piano bar and dance club. Crescent Lake provides a backdrop to lovely strolls and a time to reconnect. Yep, it's my pick for you.

Feel free to come back and ask if you have any more questions about planning your trip!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
