My wife and I are cruising on the Fantasy leaving 8/13/2016. Our passports expire 12/18/2016. Will we need to renew our passports before sailing? There will be 4 months until expiration.

    Ahoy, John!
I know you are looking forward to your summer vacation to the Eastern Caribbean on the magnificent Disney Fantasy! From the moment you step foot on this beautiful vessel, you'll be spoiled and pampered by the phenomenal crew. Whether you relax by the Quiet Cove Pool, take an exhilarating ride down the AquaDuck, catch a first-run movie or indulge in a heavenly spa service from Senses, it will be a week filled with magical moments! Disney Cruise Line really is the perfect vacation for Guests of all ages!
I did some research about your particular passport situation on the travel.state.gov website, and it appears that you and your wife's passports should be fine for your August sailing. Some countries do require a passport to be valid for six months beyond entry date. I checked the Bahamas and the BVI requirements, and they both indicate passports should be valid at the time of entry. In the unlikely event of an emergency, you will be able to travel home by air from either of these ports of call. You do not need a passport to get home from St. Thomas, so you can travel back to the U.S. without issue from there.
I hope my answer clears up any confusion, John. If we can assist you further, please let us know.
    Have a magical day!
