My wife and I have a courtyard view at the Wilderness Lodge. Does that include a veiw of the lake or do we have to request one when checking in? Should we upgrade to get a great view? Thanks for your continued help! You all are the best!

    Welcome back Bill!

I really enjoy answering your questions about Disney's Wilderness Lodge.  Thanks for sending this one my way.

I just returned from a vacation at Disney's Wilderness Lodge earlier this month.  My family stayed in a courtyard view room and the view from our balcony was quite lovely.  Rooms with a courtyard view are the most expensive at this resort unless you upgrade to a suite or the concierge level so there is no need to upgrade your room.  Keep in mind, though, that a courtyard view at this resort might afford you a view of Silver Creek Springs Pool (the main resort's feature pool) or a view of the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge (VWL).  If solitude is a primary concern for your party, ask for a view of VWL.  If you'd rather keep tabs on all the activities going on at the heart of the resort, be sure to note on your reservation that you want a view of Silver Creek Springs Pool.

If you want a view of the lake, I suggest you call 7-10 days in advance of your arrival to note that you wish to be as far away from the main lobby as possible.  That will put you closer to Bay Lake.  You will need to look either to the right or left from your balcony to see Bay Lake if you are in a room with a courtyard view.  Oddly enough, the best view I've ever had of Bay Lake was from a woods view room at the very end of the hallway at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.  The room had a stunning view of the lake, the boat dock, and Fire Rock Geyser.  If you don't mind a long walk from the lobby and bus stop, this might be the best area to request a room.  Of course, there are very few rooms at the end of the hallway, so it might be safer to just keep the room category you have already reserved.

In any case, call your reservation agent to let them know that a lake view is important to you.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get the best room in the house!
