How widely accepted are US dollars in the Bahamas? Is it possible to go around Nassau without every changing currency?

    Ahoy, Alexandra!

I know you are beyond excited to embark on your Bahamian voyage aboard Disney Cruise Line! It won't be long now! Traveling to the Bahamas aboard a cruise ship couldn't be easier. The ship will pull right up to the pier, and you'll be in the heart of town in minutes. Near the pier you'll find some shops, restaurants and the straw market. There will be no need to exchange currency as the US dollar is accepted anywhere you will go on the island. Many locations also take credit cards so you may consider having both cash and credit cards when you venture ashore.

When the ship stops on Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, you will be able to use your "Key to the World" card for your onshore purchases.  There are two merchandise shops for souvenirs and several bars that offer specialty drinks. There are some Bahamian vendors on Castaway Cay so you may want to bring some cash in case you spot something you like.

Alexandra, thank you for using the Disney Parks Moms Panel for all of your cruise questions. Please continue to keep us posted if you think of anything else.

    Have a magical day!
