Why is Magic band assigned to parent after linked

    Hi Michael!

    Thank you for your question.

MagicBands are not necessarily assigned to a parent, but is generally assigned to at least one primary guest, who also must be 18 years of age. For instance, we are a family of 4. When I make my Walt Disney World reservations for my family, I am the primary account holder so the bands can be linked or assigned to my profile first. However, I can then add or link my wife as well as my 2 kids. We are all then linked for dining reservations, FastPass+, resort room access, etc.

I also have the option of choosing which MagicBands can be used for purchasing while at Walt Disney World. I generally choose only myself and my wife. If I link my children's bands to my credit card for purchases, the trip budget I had so meticulously planned is going to explode! :-)

Thanks again and have a Mickey Magical Day!
