    Fiona Asked

Whilst trying to fast pass Avatar, it said not available but standby may be available, how do I join the standby for this ride.?

Hello, Fiona, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thank you so much for stopping by with your question.

Avatar Flight of Passage is an incredibly immersive journey through the landscape of Pandora that will take your breath away. The first time I rode it, I was smiling the entire time - and I still do! Let me walk you through your options to get on a banshee and, uh, fly.

There are generally two ways to board an attraction at the Walt Disney World Resort: FastPass+ or standby. FastPass+ is Disney's advance reservation service that allows you to save time by skipping the regular line for select attractions. "Standby" is just another name for the regular line. Often, FastPass+ reservations will be exhausted quickly on the most popular rides, so your other alternative is the regular line. The message you're seeing is just telling you that you'll need to wait in the regular line if you'd like to ride since there are no more FastPass+ times available for that day. In that case, all you need to do is hop in that line when you arrive at the attraction. There's no other advance sign-up needed.

Fiona, you can still try to add Avatar Flight of Passage to your FastPass+ selections. First, if your dates are flexible, you could plan your visit to Disney's Animal Kingdom Park on a different day. If you still can't schedule FastPass+ for Avatar Flight of Passage, you can keep checking back, even on the day you're in the Park. Many times Guests change their plans, so you just might find an availability at the last minute.

If you'll be staying in a Disney Resort hotel, you can take advantage of Extra Magic Hours, when the Park opens a little early or stays open a little later. Extra Magic Hours are available only for Disney Resort hotel Guests, and they can give you a chance to ride when the crowds are a bit lighter.

I hope this helps you plan your Disney days, Fiona. Please come by and see us again if you have any more questions, and as they say on Pandora, "Sivako!" Rise to the challenge!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

    Kathy K.

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
