We are are staying at WDW in July and the countdown is on! I am looking for some proper etiquette tips on gratuities. I understand for table service the recommended amount is min. 18%. Who else normally gets tipped when staying at a resort?

Hi Sherry! I am sure the hard working cast members of Disney will appreciate your question and concern for them. Tipping is definitely at your discretion in all ares.

Dining tips are as you said and if you feel someone has gone above and beyond you can certainly tip for that extra bonus. Many guests like to tip the housekeepers who come daily to make sure they have clean towels, clean linens, and fresh supplies. Guests will tip anywhere from $1-$10 a day. Most will tip about $5 a day for this and leave it in an envelope on the last day. If you befriend a housekeeper specifically you can hand her this tip before you depart. All tips go into a central fund for the group to use for something special. If you have a room that includes turndown service guests often tip them about $1 a day as well.

Other places you might find tipping to be used is the valet if you are parking a car or having them call for taxis. This is about $2 each time. Also the baggage handlers who will bring your luggage or retrieve it from your room. The guide for this is similar to what you would tip one at the airports.

Making sure the cast members know you appreciate them through smiles and thank yous will be gratitude enough for their hard work.
