We went to Magic Kingdom in November and my son absolutely loved playing the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game. We will be going back again in February. Should we decline my son's new magic band so that he can use the one he used to play SotMK?

    Hi Laurie,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us another question!

Because MagicBands are linked to a person’s My Disney Experience account (either one that they manage themselves, or an account that is managed by another person), they can theoretically be used interchangeably from trip to trip, regardless of how many MagicBands are linked to that person’s account. I say theoretically because I’ve personally had some issues with getting my MagicBand to work properly when I’ve had too many active ones associated with my account. If you and your family members have active MagicBands from other visits associated with your My Disney Experience accounts, I would recommend going into the “MagicBands and Cards” section and making sure to deactivate all but the 1 or 2 that you intend to use during your upcoming visit.

Because of this, even if your son gets a new MagicBand, he’ll be able to use this one in order to play Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom again without any problems. Of course, if he’d prefer to use his old MagicBand because he likes its design better (or “just in case”), he’s perfectly welcome to do so. Just make sure it’s still “active” in My Disney Experience.

Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions about your vacation!

    Have a Magical Day,
