2 weeks! We are hoping for a little magic by being selected as the First Family for MK's opening ceremony. We are using Disney buses, but since they don't start running until 60 minutes before opening, is this even doable? It seems we need 2 B there b4 8

    Hi Nicole!

Getting selected to be the first family and opening Magic Kingdom is truly a magical moment! This incredible magical moment is random, but there are things that you can do to increase your chances of being selected. The first is to show up 1 1/2 to 2 hours early before the Magic Kingdom is scheduled to open on that particular day.  I would recommend taking a taxi to the Contemporary Resort (typically a one way taxi fare costs under $20.00 for anywhere on Walt Disney World property) and then walk to the Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary (5 to 10 minute walk). Secondly, talk to the Cast Members at the Ticket turnstiles or Magic + Portals and be excited for your day in the Magic Kingdom. Thirdly, have your family all wear the same brightly colored shirts (same color for everyone because it makes your family stand out) and if you have your family name on the shirts that is even better!  It is definitely worth a try to see if this magical moment can happen for your family!

I hope that your next Walt Disney World vacation is truly magical in every way!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
