We are going for a week in June. I am trying to plan our meals but find that my teenagers will most likely not want something from the adult menu. I know the kids menu is for kids 9 and under. Is that set in stone or are the restaurants flexible?

    Hello, Isabel!

We often travel with friends who have teenage daughters who prefer simple dishes. Although they often feel too old for the kid's menu, they realize that sometimes they are a little picky for the adult menu. So, the girls have found that simply asking if a dish can be modified is the perfect solution at most Walt Disney World Resort restaurants. Sometimes their requests are as simple as no sauce or requesting a side of mac and cheese in lieu of a vegetable covered in sauce. The girls also prefer no seasonings on entrees. On a few occasions, they have ordered adult-sized portions of kids meals at the adult price. You may want to consider making a dinner reservation at a buffet, such as Chef Mickey's, Cape May Cafe or Tusker House, where your teens have more choices available to them. We have noticed the girls are more willing to try new dishes when other "comfort" items are within reach on a buffet.

Don't hesitate to ask your server for suggestions and encourage your teens to try something new. Most restaurants will modify a dish so that every Guest can enjoy the meal to their liking.

    Happy Dining!
