We're going the week between Christmas and NYE. It was the only week we could go because of our teaching jobs. I know it will be busy...really busy. What will the lines be like? Any tips on how to get the most out of our week so?

    Hi Amanda~

We always visit Disney the week between Christmas and New Years. Is it crowded? Yes. Do we have a great time despite the crowds? ABSOLUTELY! The holidays are the most wonderful time of the year to visit. The parks and resorts are all decked out for the holidays and it is just beautiful.

I won't candy coat it - the lines will be long. Here are some things that I think would help you before and during your trip:

    • Use the Moms Panel for all of your questions. We'll be here for you up until the last minute.
    • Stay at a Disney World Resort if possible. This will also give you access to Extra Magic Hours that are only available to Guests staying at a WDW Resort.
    • Arrive at the theme park gates early or as soon after opening as you can.
    • Take advantage of Disney's complimentary FASTPASS or FastPass+ service.
    • Select your 3 "must dos" in the parks you're visiting and do those 1st.
    • Unless you have Advanced Dining Reservations, plan to eat lunch and dinner earlier than usual. This will help you avoid some of the crowds.
    • Bring your own water and snacks to avoid waiting in line for them.
    • If you have kids, bring something to keep them entertained while waiting in lines and for parades, etc.
    • Get in line to use the restroom before you "really" have to go. This may sound silly but the lines are long and if you're traveling with little ones that may not be able to hold it as long, you need to plan ahead.
    • If parades and fireworks aren't your thing, lines for attractions during the parades and fireworks may be a little shorter.
    • If you need a break from the crowds, visit the resorts. They have some great holiday decorations.
    • Remember to relax. You may not get to do everything on your trip but you'll enjoy everything you do.

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
